Özet
In a city atmosphere, a great amount of the gases NOx, CO2 and SO2 are released from the chimneys of houses and factories, the exhaust of cars and trains. In rainy and foggy weathers, these gases turn into acidic form and destroy the historical monuments. According to the measurements and experiments carried out in Konya and in its close vicinity, parallel to the air pollution, the presence of acidic rains has been determined. Consequently, it has been established that the damaging effects of these acidic rains are seen on the stone and concrete buildings the most, especially, on the historical monuments built with stone.
