dc.description.abstractIn this research, positive or negative impacts of different parental attitudes on children's sexual identity and character development have been presented. The general object of the research is to determine the impacts of parental attitude towards child's sexual identity development on the sexual identity development of the children during pre-school period. The research, for which the general scanning model is used, has been conducted in Turkey during 2007-2008 school year. While the research environment of the study consists of the kindergartens in Turkey, the research has been carried out in an accessible research environment. The city of Elazi{dotless}? has been chosen as the research environment; and the 4-6 year-old kindergarten students of Balakgazi Kindergarten subject to the Ministry of National Education have been determined as the working group. The working group consists of 150 students determined by random cluster sampling method and the 300 people who are the parents of these students. Two different instruments has been used during the data collection phase of the research. These are the "Child Observation Form" and the "Parental Attitude Scale". The instruments have been prepared by the researchers. From the measurement instruments, the Child Observation Form has been applied to the teachers, and the Parental Attitude Scale has been applied to the mothers and the fathers. According to the research results, pre-school children exhibit quite appropriate behaviours for their sexual identity developments, parents usually have a positive attitude towards their children's sexual identity development, and the parental attitude towards children's sexual identity development shows a positive correlation with the children's sexual identity development while having no significant effect.en_US
