Özet
II. Dünya Savaşı sonrası esen radikal rüzgarlar Amerikan toplumunda bir özgürlük isteği ve beklentisi oluşturmuştur. Vietnam savaşı ve "Amerikan Rüyası" sloganıyla yola çıkılan zenginlik hayallerinin boşa çıkması, toplumsal bir huzursuzluğa sebebiyet vermiştir. Bu yıllarda tartışılmayan konular tartışılmış, egemen söyleme karşı güçlü bir eleştiri geliştirilmiştir. Bu toplumsal değişimin sinemaya yansıması sonucunda oluşan “Underground” sinema, bireyselliği, görselliği ve yeni bir estetik anlayışı öne çıkaran bir tavırla inşa edilmiştir. 1960’lı yılların ortalarında yaptığı deneysel filmlerle, bu anlayışı kendi yaşam tarzına dönüştüren Andy Warhol bu akımın öncüsü olarak “Underground” sinemayı geniş kitlelere duyurmuştur. Bu çalışmada, geleneksel ve ticari sinemaya karşı, bireyselliği savunan “Underground” sinema ve yaptığı bağımsız filmlerle bu sinemanın önde gelen temsilcilerinden olan Andy Warhol’un sinema anlayışı incelenecektir.
The radical movements right after World War II created demand for freedom and expectations towards it in American society. The failure of all those dreams related with wealth through the slogans of Vietnam War and “American Dream” caused a social discomfort. In those years, nondebated issues became part of discussions and strong criticism had been developed against dominant discourse. The “underground” cinema, formed as a result of the reflection of this change, was established in a way where individuality, visuality and a new aesthetic understanding were the landmarks. Andy Warhol, incorporated this understanding into his lifestyle, reflected his views into his experimental films and shared underground cinema with masses. In this study, underground cinema, supporting individuality versus traditional and commercial cinema, and Andy Warhol’s understanding on cinema through their representatives will be analyzed.
