dc.description.abstractBean feasts, holidays and festivals have been important socio-cultural events which make people come together for various purposes, and Turks have been kept by these events since their beginning. Minstrel Seyrâni Festivals is one of the festivals in Turkey. I identified that it has not been investigated although there are the research studies on Minstrel Seyrâni. I did ethnographic research on the 18th Minstrel Seyrâni Culture and Art Festival in Develi. The observations were discussed within the concepts of the disciplines of Folklore and Ethnomusicology. According to the findings, the festival has been held since 1979 and its purpose is mainly to celebrate Minstrel Seyrâni. It starts every year in Develi, and its activities have sometimes expanded to Kayseri. It usually takes two or more days, and its activities include Mehter ( Janissary) Band, Folk Dances, the Minstrel s' Beano, Karakucak (the blacklap) Wrestlings, the Trade Fair and the Concerts. Music accompanies activities of the festival as a unifying element. Although the festival has been held locally, it has included national and international musical participations.en_US
