dc.description.abstractBu araştırmada spor basınının dünyada ve Türkiye’de tarihsel süreç içindeki gelişmesi incelenmiş ve Milliyet gazetesinin arşivinde yapılan taramalarla Türkiye’de yaşanan değişim ortaya konul-muştur. Sonuç olarak 1951’den 2011’e kadar olan dönemde Milliyet gazetesinde spora ayrılan yerin, toplam sayfa sayısına göre arttığı görülmüştür. Gazetede “dört büyük kulüp” olarak anılan Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş ve Trabzonspor haberlerine ayrılan yerin de yıllara göre arttı-ğı saptanmıştır. 1950 ve 1960’lı yıllarda bugün güreş ve boks gibi spor branşlarıyla ilgili haberle-rin sayfalarda geniş olarak yer aldığı görülmüştür. Köşe yazarlarının yazı sayılarında da incele-nen dönemlere göre bir artış saptanmıştır. Baskı tekniklerinin gelişmesiyle gazetenin spor sayfa-sında son 20 yılda daha büyük fotoğraflar kullanılmış ve görsel anlamda daha renkli ve estetik bir sayfa düzeni uygulanmıştır. dc.description.abstractThis study investigated the development of the sports media in the world and in Turkey in its histor-ical process and displayed the transformation experienced in Turkey by the help of the reviews of the archives of Milliyet newspaper. The results show that the space allocated for sports in Milliyet Newspaper increased in proportion to the number of pages of the paper in the period of 1951-2011. It was also seen that space allocated to news related to Galatasaray, Fenerbahçe, Beşiktaş and Trabzonspor, known as “four biggest clubs” increased through the years. It was identified that in 1950s and 1960s the papers provided large coverage for news related to sports branches such as wrestling and boxing. The number of sports columns written by columnists also showed an increase in the periods that were investigated. With the development in printing techniques, the sports sec-tions of newspapers have started to use larger photos, more colorful and aesthetic designs in the last 20 years. While photo sections increased in the papers, written sections showed a decreaseen_US
