The determination of the geometrical features of failure modes is the first step in slope design and planning applications. In addition, it is well known that wedge rock blocks are the most common failure mode type. This paper presents the basic components of an approach for establishing the geometry of wedge rock blocks of fractured rocks. A simple new classification system was developed for the construction of the model. The main advantage of this new geometric model is that it presents more practical and rapid solutions for potential failure mechanisms than other classical solutions. The results obtained from an experimental field show the effectiveness of the proposed modeling method.en_US
