dc.description.abstract | A new calix[4]arene-based polysiloxane resin (CBPSR) was prepared from 5,11,17,23-tert-butyl-25,27-bis(cyanomethoxy)-26-(chloroformyl)-28-hydroxy-calix[4]arene via nucleophilic substitution reaction with 3-aminopropyltriethoxysilane and followed by copolymerization with octyltriethoxysilane. Batchwise extraction studies have revealed a high adsorption ability of the calix[4]arene-nitrile derivatives loaded resin toward heavy metals (Cu(2+) , Co(2+) , Cd(2+) , Ni(2+) , Hg(2+) and Pb(2+) ) and dichromate anion (Cr(2)O(7)(2-) ). Liquid-liquid extraction studies show that the monomeric analogs (2, 3 and 4) do not exhibit a good affinity toward these ions. | en_US |
