At present study, effects of supplementation of rations with a commercial probiotics (ProtexinTM) on daily feed intake, egg weight and yield, feed intake per kg egg yield and humoral immune response were investigated. 280 Hysex Brown layers aged 40 weeks were used. They were divided into 4 groups. For 90 days the layer hens in the groups were fed diets consisting of followings; 0, 250, 500, 750 g/tone. At the end of the experiment, egg yields for the groups given were detected as 74.52, 74.18, 75.67, and 75.06 %, respectively (p>0.05). Amount of feed consumed to produce 1 kg egg were found the lowest (2.46 kg) in the group fed diet containing 500 g/tone probiotics while the highest (2.59) was in the group fed diet with no probiotics supplementation (p<0.05). Feed intake for the groups given above were recorded 113.23, 112.24, 110.54, 112.88 g (p<0.05). Addition of probiotics to the rations were shown not to effect on weight and specific gravity of eggs in any groups (p>0.05). The ratio of broken egg was found the lowest in the 500g/tone group (p<0.05). No stimulatory effect on peripheral immune response was seen in any groups, either (P >0.05).Consequently, supplementation of rations with probiotics at 500 g/tone quantity was shown to cause some improvement in feed intake and feed conversion as well as broken egg ratios. These decreases were statistically different while effects on egg production, egg weight and specific gravity were not.
