Abstract
Bu çalışmada, Kutadgu Bilig’in 5799. beyitinde geçen ve bir hapax legomenon olan ya?sa?uçı kelimesi Klasik Moğolca yangsagh ve Mançuca nanggişa- kelimelerinin yardımıyla açıklanarak kelimenin etimolojisi yapılacaktır. Ya?sa?uçı kelimesinin *ya?sa- fiil gövdesinden, *ya?safiilinin ise –Us eki ile *ya?- fiil kökünden türetilmiş olan ya?us sıfatından geldiği ve söz konusu kelimenin “dalkavuk” anlamını taşıdığı gösterilecektir. Sonuç olarak, beyit yeniden anlamlandırılacak ve yorumlanacaktır.
This article discusses a hapax legomenon which occurs in the 5799th couplet of Qutadgu Bilig. The lexeme will be etymologized anew by means of Written Mongolian yangsagh and Manchu nanggiša-. Ya?sagu?ı is derived from the verbal stem *ya?sa- which itself is derived from the adjective ya?us. Ya?us which comes from *ya?- is only once attested in the Yenissei Inscriptions. It will also be shown that the word yangsagh actually means “flatterer”. In the conclusion, a new translation and interpretation of the couplet will be given.
