Abstract
Tüketim kültürü gösterenlerinin tasarlanmasında reklam ve tanıtım faaliyetleri kadar önceliği haber vermek olan gazeteler de etkin bir rol oynamaktadır. Gazetelerin bu alandaki faaliyeti öylesine uzmanlaşmıştır ki, “yaşam tarzı haberciliği” adında bir gazetecilik uzmanlık alanı dahi türemiştir. Özellikle gazetelerin hafta sonu ekleri alışveriş, eğlence, yemek ve yurt içi ve yurt dışı tatil mekânlarının tanıtımına oldukça fazla yer ayırmaktadır. Tüm bu mekânların tanıtımları yapılırken ise okuyucuya/tüketiciye toplumsal statü edinmek, bir gruba ait olmak gibi simgesel değerler vaat edilmektedir. Bu çalışma da gazetelerin hafta sonu eklerinde mekân tanıtımlarının sunumunu ve bu eklerdeki yaşam tarzı ve tüketim kültürü gösterenlerini nitel içerik analizi yöntemiyle incelemiştir. Hürriyet ve Zaman gazetelerinin Cuma eklerini konu alan araştırmanın sonuçlarına göre; farklı dünya görüşlerini temsil eden iki gazete eki de okuyucuyu tüketime yönlendirmekte ve okuyucuya tüketimle gelen bir yaşam tarzı önermektedir. Tüketim konusunda ortaklaşan iki gazete eki, önerilen mekânlar konusunda ise farklılaşmaktadır. Hürriyet Cuma, batı tarzı bir tüketim önerirken Zaman Cuma, geleneksel tüketime öncelik vermektedir.
Newspapers whose priority is to inform, also have an active role as advertisement and publicity activities, in the designation of signifiers of consumption culture. Activities of newspapers in this area are so specialized that, a journalism specialization area named “life style journalism” has come into existence. Especially the weekend supplements of newspapers allocate quite a large place to shopping, entertainment, meals and introduction of national and international holiday centers. While the introductions of these places are being made, the reader/ consumer is promised to be given symbolic values such as gaining a social status, belonging to a group. This study examines the presentation of place introductions in weekend supplements of newspapers and signifiers of lifestyles and consumption culture in these supplements, with qualitative content analysis method. According to the results of the research whose subject matter is Friday supplements of Hürriyet and Zaman newspapers; both of the newspaper supplements that represents different kinds of world views, lead the reader to consumption and suggest a lifestyle that comes up with consumption. The two newspaper supplements which share similar qualities about consumption, differs from each other in their place suggestions. While Hürriyet Friday offers a western style of consumption, Zaman Friday gives priority to traditional consumption.
