Özet
Edebi sermayesini Arapça ve Farsçadan alan Urdu Dili'nin ilk dönem edebi örneklerine baktığımızda bu ürünlerin tür açısından biyografik olduğu görülür. Nitekim Hind Yarımadası'nda da her türlü biyografik eser yeterli sayıda yazılmıştır. Bu çalışmada biyografi yazarlığının Hind Yarımadası 'ndaki tarihi gelişimi an/atıldıktan sonra Altaf Hüseyin Heılf'nin bu alandaki çalışmalarına değinilmiştir.
When we looked at the patterns of the early period of Urdu literature which took literary materials from Arabic and Persian, we see that these are biographical samples. Therefore a /ot of biographical Works had been written in Sub-Continent. The present article is about the historical progress of the biography in the nineteenth century in lndia. A part from it this study deals with Altaf Husayn Ha/f and his biographical Works on this topic.
