Özet

Purpose of this study is to investigate science teaching efficacy beliefs (self-efficacy and outcome expectancy) of pre-service primary school teachers and to determine whether these beliefs vary with gender and class level. Data collection was performed through administering the "Science Teaching Efficacy Beliefs Instrument" to 287 pre-service primary teachers. Statistical techniques such as means and t-test were used to analyze the data. Results of the study show that pre-service teachers' self- efficacy beliefs are not at the desired level thus should be improved. The results also showed that self efficacy beliefs of the primary teachers increased by class level and were not related to their gender. Outcome expectancy beliefs on the other hand found to be more positive than self-efficacy beliefs. Furthermore, they were not found to be related to either class level or gender of the primary teachers.
