The reaction included the selective substitutions of 4-aminobenzoic acid onto three chlorides of the triazine ring via a stepwise manner at 1:1, 1:2, or 1:3 equiv. and 0, 25, 130 degrees C, respectively. An efficient synthesis of a novel class of "multidirectional ligands'' has been developed based on high-yielding chloride substitutions of 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine by amines. Sixteen new mono-, di-, tri-, and tetra-nuclear Fe(III) and Cr(III) complexes involving tetradenta Schiff bases N,N'-bis(salicylidene)ethylenediamine-(salenH(2)) or bis(salicylidene)-o-phenylenediamine-(salophenH(2)) with two new 1,3,5-triazine derived multidirectional ligands were synthesized and characterized by means of elemental analysis, H-1 NMR, FT-IR spectroscopy, LC-MS analysis, AAS, thermal analysis, and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The complexes were also characterized as low-spin distorted octahedral Fe(III) and Cr(III) bridged by carboxylic acids. It was understood that the [{Fe(salen)/(salophen)}(2)O] and [{Cr(salen)/(salophen)}(2)O] containing compounds could be represented by the electronic structure of t(2g)(6)e(g)(0) and t(2g)(3)e(g)(0).Öğe Complexes of iron(III) salen and saloph Schiff bases with bridging 2,4,6-tris(2,5dicarboxyphenylimino-4-formylphenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine and 2,4,6-tris(4-carboxyphenylimino-4'-formylphenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine(SPRINGER, 2007) Koc, Ziya Erdem; Ucan, H. IsmetFour new trinuclear Fe(III) complexes involving tetradenta Schiff bases N,N-1 -bis(salicylidene) ethylenediamine-(salenH(2)) or bis(salicylidene)-o-phenylenediamine-(salophH(2)) with 2,4,6-tris(2,5-dicarboxyphenylimino-4-formylphenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine (DCPI-TRIPOD) or 2,4,6-tris(4-carboxyphenylimino-4'-formylphenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine (CPI-TRIPOD) have been synthesized and characterized by means of elemental analysis carrying out H-1-n.m.r., i.r. spectroscopy, thermal analyses and magnetic susceptibility measurements. The present study reported a method for achieving Dipodal systems formed by reaction 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine and 4-hydroxybenzaldehyde, 2-aminophenol. Herein, we reported the synthesis of a dialdehyde and its Schiff base as a new template. The reaction of cyanuric chloride with 1 equiv. methanol and 2 equiv. of p-hydroxybenzaldehyde gave the desired dialdehyde. The dialdehyde was then reacted with 2-aminophenolto afford the corresponding multidirectional oxy-Schiff base triazines. The structures of the compounds were identified by FT-IR,H-1-NMR and elemental analysis. Their antimicrobial activities were performed by using the broth microdilution method in DMSO: Phosphate Buffered Saline (PBS) against eight bacteria strain and one yeast strain. The results of the test were compared with gentamicin. It has been determined that 2,4-Bis(2-hydroxyphenylimino-4'-formylphenoxy)-6-methoxy-1,3,5-triazine (3) (2DP2AF) and 2-(2-hydroxyphenylimino-4'-formylphenoxy)-4-(4'-formylphenoxy)-6-methoxy-1,3,5-triazine (2) (1DP2AF) have significant antibacterial and antifungal activity against Enterococcus faecalis and Candida albicans and these effects were close to the control antibiotic used. Ent. faecalis was the most sensitive strain against both two tested chemicals. It was determined that our chemicals have similar antifungal capacity when compared to gentamicin.Öğe THE INVESTIGATION OF SECOND-ORDER NONLINEAR OPTICAL PROPERTIES OF P-NITROPHENYLAZOANILINE: SECOND HARMONIC GENERATION AND AB INITIO COMPUTATIONS(WORLD SCIENTIFIC PUBL CO PTE LTD, 2012) Karakas, Asli; Koc, Ziya Erdem; Fridrichova, Michaela; Nemec, Petr; Kroupa, Janp-nitrophenylazoaniline (1) belongs to the family of compounds with conjugated bonds and delocalized pi-electrons, structurally similar to the well known push-pull compound Disperse Red 1 (DR1).(1) Due to the assembly of the molecule, nonlinear optical (NLO) properties are expectable and can be more or less accurately predicted. To estimate the potential for second-order NLO properties, the electric dipole moment (mu), dispersion-free dipole polarizabilities (alpha) and first hyperpolarizabilities (beta) have been determined by density functional theory (DFT) quantum chemical calculations at B3LYP/6-311+G(d,p) level. According to the computation results, the synthesized compound exhibits non-zero beta values and it might have second-order NLO behavior. Title compound has been synthesized and characterized by FT-IR, H-1-NMR and UV-Vis spectroscopies. The maximum one-photon absorption (OPA) wavelengths were estimated to be shorter than 450nm by quantum mechanical computations using the configuration interaction (CI) method. The same result was achieved by UV-Vis spectra measurements, whereas the compound exhibited good optical transparency to the visible light. Quantitative measurements of second harmonic generation (SHG) at 800nm and 1064nm have been performed. The relative efficiency comparable with that of KDP (kalium diphosphate) has been observed with the exciting wavelength of 1064 nm, while the other wavelength led to strong absorption of produced light by the sample. In the following more detailed study on frequency-dependent first hyperpolarizabilities using time-dependent Hartree-Fock (TDHF) method have been computed at the wavelengths used in SHG measurements.Öğe A symmetric and selective fluorescent Cu (II) sensor based on bodipy and s-triazine(ELSEVIER SCIENCE BV, 2014) Kursunlu, Ahmed Nuri; Koc, Ziya Erdem; Obali, Aslihan Yilmaz; Guler, ErsinA symmetric fluorescent sensor based on Bodipy for Cu (II) ion was designed according to binding site-signaling subunit approach. The formation of 2-aryl-substituted benzimidazoles, by the polyphosphoric acid-catalyzed condensation of a carboxylic acid, with an o-amino-arylamine is described. The condensations proceed in good yield to give products which, in certain instances, are not readily attainable by conventional condensation techniques. The study of Benzimidazole containing Schiff bases is also of interest as some of them have shown the ability to anticancer. The structures of the compounds were identified by FT-IR, H-1 NMR, C-13 NMR and elemental analysis. Cytotoxic effects of benzimidazole derivatives on human cervical and colon cancer cell lines HeLa and SW-620 was determined spectrophotometrically by using Alamar Blue. Benzimidazole derivatives selectively inhibited proliferation of cancerous cell lines. None of the benzimidazole Schiff base derivatives inhibits proliferation of SW-620 while 4-APbzlH, 4SAPbz1H and 3SAPbz1H dose dependently inhibit proliferation of HeLa cells with IC50 of 230 mu M, 110.6 mu M and 101.3 mu M, respectively.Öğe SYNTHESIS OF STAR-SHAPED MACROMOLECULAR SCHIFF BASE COMPLEXES HAVING MELAMINE CORES AND THEIR MAGNETIC AND THERMAL BEHAVIORS(TAYLOR & FRANCIS INC, 2012) Uysal, Saban; Koc, Ziya Erdem; Celikbilek, Seyma; Ucan, H.
